Studying abroad

Presentation

Erasmus+ is the new EU programme for supporting education, training, young people and sport between 2014 and 2020.

The programme enables students to relocate abroad for a period of study and/or placement, for a maximum of 12 months per study cycle (24 months for the single-cycle Law degree course) and to receive a bursary for the associated travel and living costs. The programme is structured as follows:

1) Erasmus SMS: Erasmus+ Studio enables students to undertake a portion of their studies abroad. Student mobility is regulated by agreements between universities in the countries admitted onto the programme. The Department guarantees that the results of educational activities undertaken abroad (attending course modules, exams, research etc.) will be recognised as per the learning agreement by means of the European credit transfer system (ECTS).

The programme also enables foreign students enrolled at partner universities to attend courses run by the Department, sit the associated exams and have the subsequent results recognised by their own universities.

2) Erasmus SMT: The Erasmus+ Placement programme offers students the chance to undertake an educational placement abroad within companies and organisations. This form of mobility is particularly encouraged on the second-cycle degree in Planning, with a particular focus on forms of individual and group placements in European contexts involved in promoting innovation in social services.
